EXPOSITION

Here, several of the transportation options available in downtown San Diego in 1912 are visible looking north on Fifth Street at Market Street. SDERy cars Nos. 97 and 135 vie for space with automobiles, bicyclists, and horses. The mass of overhead wires shows the growth of both San Diego and the electric trolley system. (SDHC.)

Spreckels permanently relocated to San Diego. He constructed a mansion on Glorietta Bay across from the Hotel Del Coronado, seen here in 1910, where he lived for the rest of his life. (CHA.)
